The dual carriageway which will assist in both connecting the M5 to the west of Worcestershire and Herefordshire, and provide a bypass to Worcester City Centre to ease congestion cutting average journey times along the A4440 in both directions during peak hours in the opening year.
Robin was pleased to see the funding for this major project approved as the southern link road is one of the most congested routes in Worcestershire, with more than 30,000 vehicles using it per day.

This has been a key priority of mine since my election as Worcester’s MP and I have raised it on numerous with various Ministerial colleagues in the Department for Transport.
“This venture would not have been able to go ahead without the hard work, dedicated support, and campaigning efforts of all Worcestershire MPs, two Herefordshire MPs, and the Worcestershire County Council who committed £7.5 million to the project. Securing this funding is a fantastic accomplishment, and a testament to the efficiency and value of collaborative work.”
“As a regular user of the road, I am delighted to see the final announcement of funding being made and the money to commence this project being handed over. I know for the constituents of Worcester; this announcement can’t come soon enough.”
