Eric Pickles, Chairman of the Conservative Party visited Worcester this Saturday as part of a tour of key marginals.
He joined Robin in St Johns, where the Conservatives had been canvassing earlier in the afternoon, welcomed the newest member of the Worcester Association, former Labour councillor, Pamela Clayton, who signed her membership form and gave it to the association chairman, Cllr Lucy Hodgson at the event.
Eric spoke to local activists about the importance of winning Robin's campaign and about Conservative policies to improve the health service, making it less driven by top down targets and more focused on better local care.
Robin took him around local shops and businesses, introducing him to supporters and showing him the excellent new sports and youth facilities delivered for the area by the Conservative City and County Councils. He updated him on the campaign in Worcester before heading back to his busy canvassing schedule.
After the visit, Robin said
"I am delighted that the Chairman of the Party has come to Worcester to show his support for my campaign. I am proud to be officially down as Eric's latest chum. Together with Eric and David Cameron, I am proud to be doing my bit to deliver change for Britain. Almost four years of campaigning are paying off and the Worcester Conservatives have had a good first few weeks of the election campaign, winning debates, winning new supporters and winning over many former Labour voters. Now we must campaign even harder in the last couple of weeks to seal the deal with Worcester. Conservatives have already shown how we can bring change here, locally, delivering services and value for money, now we must do so nationally."
