    Thank you from Robin Walker

10/05/2010

Robin Walker, the new MP for Worcester has written to local newspapers to record his thanks to the tens of thousands of voters who turned out on May 6th, the candidates who ran in both the General and local elections and his predecessor.

On being elected the new MP for Worcester after a tense count at Worcester's Guildhall Robin said

"Worcester has made a choice and Worcester has voted for change. You've chosen hope over fear and a new beginning...I have based my campaign on serving Worcester and talking positively about the future for Worcester and our country....we stand on the edge of great uncertainty but I will always stand by the people of Worcester as their MP."

In his letter to local newspapers he said:

"I would like to thank everyone who voted in the elections on May 6th and everyone in Worcester for the trust that has been placed in me as the newly elected MP.

I am delighted and honoured by the responsibility that has been entrusted to me and will set about working on behalf of this great city at once.

To each of the 19, 358 people who put their trust in me I would like to say thank you but I accept that many thousands of people in Worcester voted for other candidates and I would like to assure them that I am here to serve and represent everyone in the city.

May I congratulate all those who were elected to our City council, those who achieved re-election and especially the newly elected councillors - Abdul Riaz, Ken Carpenter, Matthew Lamb and. David Wilkinson. I look forward to working with City and County Councillors of all parties to make Worcester an even better place, and working in Parliament to make sure we get the active and decisive government that our country needs.

I would like to thank Michael Foster for his years of hard work as our MP and congratulate him on his impact as a Minister for International Development. I would also like to congratulate the other candidates in the General Election for the positive campaigns that they fought

In uncertain times, my first priority will be to support the interests of Worcester and help people here. I look forward to hearing from my constituents how I can help them. For the time being the best address for correspondence will be Churchill House, 15 Sansome Place, Worcester WR1 1UA."
