Severn Trent Water have started work on a £1 million upgrade of the city's sewer network in Ronkswood, Worcester.
The works follow an investigation which showed that parts of the network were showing their age. Severn Trent believe the investment 'will breathe new life into the network so it can continue to serve the community for years to come.'
Severn Trent wrote to residents in the area in May to inform them of the disruption the upgrade works would cause. Road closures and diversions can be expected while the work is ongoing. An information event was also held at Ronkswood Community Centre in April.
Worcester MP Robin Walker said:
'I recently met with Severn Trent Water to learn about what they are doing to improve facilities for Worcester residents. I welcome the news that there are practical changes underway to bring the sewer network up to date.
'Some patience will no doubt be required while disruption takes place, but this will of course benefit residents in the longer term.'
