Robin Walker – Member of Parliament for Worcester
Welcome to my website. My name is Robin Walker and I am the Member of Parliament for Worcester.
I was first elected in May 2010 and since then I have been hard at work representing Worcester’s interests at Westminster. It is a privilege to represent this great city and fight for the interests of the people of Worcester. In 2015 I was re-elected with an increased majority and share of the vote, and I am honoured to have been given the opportunity once again to speak up for Worcester. I was again re-elected in the 2017 General Election and I am delighted to continue to represent this great city.
KEEPING UP INVESTMENT IN WORCESTERSHIRE’S NHS
Continue to campaign for a £29m capital expansion at our local hospitals, following the £2.5m interim funding secured last year and the £1m extra announced in April to help reduce waiting times. I will continue to speak up for a new medical school and support for mental health. If re-elected, I will keep campaigning for the expansion of the Worcestershire Royal A&E, new faciliites and more funding for full time staff.
BACKING WORLD CLASS SCHOOLS AND FAIRER FUNDING
Having led campaigns for a national funding formula to deliver a fairer deal for Worcestershire’s schools, which has delivered £6.7m for schools since 2014, and under further proposals an extra £9m over the next two years, but I will keep pressing for more.
SUPPORTING JOBS AND APPRENTICESHIPS
Unemployment in Worcester has more than halved with apprenticeships doubling since 2010. I championed growth in apprenticeships in both quantity and quality. Since 2015, pay has been rising in Worcester above inflation and the national average and I want to continue to see this rise.
TACKLING WORCESTER’S TRANSPORT CHALLENGES
Pressing for full dualling of the Southern Link, including the Carrington Bridge. I will keep campaigning for road upgrades, rail improvements and new cycle routes for Worcester. In addition, I will continue to campaign for residents’ parking and low parking charges.
A STRONG VOICE FOR WORCESTER
Over the last seven years it’s been a privilege to be Worcester’s man in Westminster, speaking up for this great city I’ve known and loved all my life. I am ambitious for Worcester and I want our city to continue to thrive.
I knock on doors all year round to hear from local residents and have held hundreds of surgeries helping thousands of individuals and families. Re-electing me will help secure our country’s future, but just as importantly, an MP who speaks up for Worcester.
