A group of Rotarians from Worcester toured parliament on Wednesday 27th April to see the historic building and learn about the development of British democracy.
Free tours, known as democratic access tours are guided tours which explain the work of UK Parliament and its relevance today, outlines how the working spaces you visit on the tour are used, sets out ways you can get involved and engage with the democratic process, and highlights some of the dramatic history of the Palace of Westminster
Following the tour the group met with their local Member of Parliament Robin Walker. Robin said:
"It's always great to share this historic building, its history, and its treasures with Worcester residents. I was glad to meet the group after their tour and hear about what they learned during their visit.
"Parliament is very much a public building, a national asset which everyone has the right to see. Anyone can tour Parliament for free by contacting their local MP. My team are always on hand to facilitate visits for groups and individuals and if anyone feels they would like to come and see Parliament I would encourage them to get in touch."
